It was a journey toward a homecoming for me, but at the same time, it was an intense period of listening that led to the discovery of my internal alterity.
Day and night at Palbok present two entirely different panoramas.

Here, in an area densely populated with factories, the daily rhythm of the people is orchestrated by the repeated stops and starts under traffic lights centered around intersections.
During an evening stroll, I gaze at a train brought to a halt, a muddy road shimmering dark after the end of the monsoon.
The irregular rhythms of a dust\uff0dcoated paddleboat abandoned in an empty field at midday, the rhythms perceptible only on the day the 24\uff0dhour factory
finally shuts its doors, like a humid holiday night\uff0dthese instances reveal the manner of life lived in spaces synchronized with time by sudden halts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 1980s, a place known as \u2018Sun Electronics\u2019 was a factory producing cassette tapes. I happened upon an interview with female workers who had spent their youth at this location in the archives.
While following the life story of one of these workers, there came a moment when I confronted a resonance with the inexplicable dissonance within me.
Like memories and recollections, certain rhythms remain concealed and hidden.
The rhythm I captured through the trembling voice of a woman I had never met must have been a product of my imagination.
It seemed as though it came from an old cassette recorder\uff0da virtual rhythm\uff0dbut it was wholly fabricated, still it was enough to reflect on the rhythm etched into my body.
My landscape, starting where her voice ends, was precisely where I began. It was a cyclic motion of a sense of self, an illusion of a homeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
